City of Life and Death (Lu Chuan 2009) Ambitious narrative feature about the "Rape of Nanking" during the Sino-Japanese war (1937), recently released in the US
Hello Lonesome (Adam Reid 2010) American indie film about a trio of lonely-guy stories
United Red Army (Koji Wakamatsu 2010) 190-minute docu-drama about young Sixties Japanese radicals
